Welcome

For many years I have had a knack of finding lucky 4-leaf clovers. Originally I put them in an espresso cup on the kitchen table for my husband. As I found more, I pressed them inside a large book. (A Stephen King book, it was very thick!)

The idea for the clover pins came about in 2022. My sister, Holly, has Downs syndrome. She came down with an infection and, for the first time in her life, was hospitalized. Unfortunately she was confused and sad to be in the hospital. I had an idea: I belong to a group of published children’s book illustrators - PBAA (Picture Book Artist Association). I knew all my fellow illustrators have printed postcards with samples of their artwork on them to mail to art directors. (I do, too.) I asked my peers at PBAA if they would send my sister one of their postcards to the hospital to help cheer her up.  Well, they didn’t send postcards. From across the globe Holly received their autographed books, original artwork, cards, and even a fabulous rainbow maker machine!  Holly was thrilled and I was overwhelmed with gratitude. How could I thank my kind-hearted illustrator friends? And then I thought of my book full of clovers. Using the real 4-leaf clovers I had found, I hand made each artist a pin and mailed them off to those who had shown such kindness to my sister.

I received incredible feedback. My husband suggested I continue to make more clover pins, and give them to patients at an oncology department. I did just that. The surprise and joy I saw in the faces of the recipients filled my heart with love.

Over the years I have continued to find 4-leaf clovers. I make unique one-of-a-kind pieces of art using these clovers. I have traveled the country, passing my clover pins out to people I encounter. I’ve received emails and messages from so many people, telling me how I cheered them up the very day they were feeling blue, or how the very next day their spouse landed a new job, or how they passed theirs onto someone who was in need of a smile. It’s a small act of kindness that I will continue to do as long as I keep finding lucky clovers.

Where do I find them? I find 4-leaf clovers nestled in between three leaf ones. In my own yard, next to a pickleball court, on the sidelines of a football field, along a walking path. Wherever I come across a field of clovers, the lucky 4-leaf ones simply seem to jump out at me. Some people have asked me what I charge for a pin. I give each one away for free, there is never a fee. I feel I cannot put any price on good luck!
